LATEST ISSUE OF SERVICE DEALER
Service Dealer Magazine February 2010
February’s Service Dealer asks whether trade shows need re-inventing and reports from BIGGA’s Harrogate Week turfcare show and the LAMMA agricultural machinery exhibition – both of which reported brisk business. Elsewhere we pay tribute to industry stalwarts who have sadly passed away recently.

UK tractor registrations break 15,000 in 2009
The AEA reports that the final count of registration for road use of agricultural tractors (over 50hp) in the UK for 2009 was 15,013 which represents a decline of 12.2% on the recent-record 2008 levels. AEA Economist, Chris Evans said, “The industry had largely anticipated this level of activity as it was widely accepted that the 2008 results represented the peak of the cycle when investment was made in response especially to the high volumes and prices from the 2007 cereal harvest.”
Gardenex to support Glee and Garden Expo
Following the announcement by Glee that The Federation of Garden & Leisure Manufacturers Ltd (Gardenex), had signed a non-exclusive agreement to support Glee again in 2010, the federation issued an extended statement. “Over the past three months Gardenex has polled its members on their preferred timing for trade exhibiting and the results showed that some were attracted to the September dates and others opted for the earlier June dates when the Federation will also be supporting Garden Expo on a non-exclusive basis,” said the federation’s director general, Amanda Sizer Barrett.
