GGP invest in robotic mowing
GGP is heavily investing into robotic lawn mowing and has announced the acquisition of the entire quota capital of the company LiCo srl and the Lizard brand. Following this acquisition, Global Garden Products (GGP) and Zucchetti Centro Sistemi (ZCS) have signed a long term strategic cooperation to jointly strengthen both their positions in robotic lawn mowing solutions in Europe and overseas.
Honda take action against counterfeiters
Honda Europe undertook two legal actions during Agritechnica 2011 in Hanover, Germany. They took legal action against two companies exhibiting products which are believed to be counterfeit.
The following companies were exhibiting copies of Honda general purpose engines:
1. Chongqing Tenglong Shines Electro-Mechanics Co. Ltd. (Chongqing/China)
2. Chongqing Hongmei Technology Co. Ltd. (Chongqing/China)
FGM Claymore take on Walker
FGM Claymore Ltd have confirmed their appointment as the UK Distributor for the Walker commercial, zero-turn, out-front, direct-collect mower range. Commenting, FGM Claymore Managing Director, Paul Butterly said, “We are delighted to have secured this agreement, the Walker range has a reputation as a premium brand offering quality, performance and reliability. It is well established in the UK as an integral part of machinery fleets for a range of users.
UK tractor registrations up 5.6% in 2011
The final count of registrations for road use of agricultural tractors (over 50hp) in the UK for 2011 was 14,094 units which represents an increase of 5.6% on the 2010 level. This follows 2 years of decline from the 2008 high point – this level of registrations is near the average for the last decade. The average size of unit sold in 2011 is provisionally put at 144.3 hp which was 1.8% above the preceding year.
Record year for Claas
The 2011 financial year, which ran from October 1st to September 30th, was highly successful for the CLAAS Group, who recorded their highest ever sales at 3,304.2 million Euros, which was a rise of 33.5% on the previous year, and outperformed expectations. Income before taxes also tripled to 255.3 million Euros.
Changes to Deere dealer network
A number of changes have been made to the John Deere turf dealer network as part of the company’s Dealer of Tomorrow initiative.
•In the south-east of England, Godfreys is set to acquire Golf & Turf Equipment;
•in the Midlands, Chris Tallis Farm Machinery has joined forces with Parks & Grounds Machinery;
•and in the east of England, Adamsons has taken over responsibility for Lincolnshire from the Burdens Group.
