Tuckwell buys Buckle business
Two long-established dealers who operate across the Eastern Counties have announced that they are to become one company. It was announced on 1 March that P Tuckwell Ltd has bought the trading area and assets of J E Buckle Ltd who operate branches at Maulden in Bedfordshire and Cromer, Hertfordshire. Together with Tuckwell’s existing branches at Worlingworth, Ardleigh, Dunmow, Ryleigh and Sudbury, the expanded company will consist of seven branches - and a likely turnover of more than £40 million.
Fire at Sumo factory
Sumo (UK) Ltd suffered a fire at their Melbourne, Yorkshire factory on the morning of Wednesday 8 February. The fire started at 8.20am in one of the spray booths. The fire brigade were called and, at the height of the fire, there were 9 appliances and 45 fire fighters who brought it under control. “The fire has resulted in all four spray booths being destroyed and the roof of one of our three fabrication lines being badly damaged,” says Shaun Wealleans, Managing Director. “Thankfully, and most important of all, no one was injured and all staff were accounted for.
SDF deny Kubota takeover rumours
SAME DEUTZ-FAHR (SDF), in response to the recent rumours published on the internet regarding Kubota’s interest in potentially buying the Group, has denied there are any such negotiations underway and adds that there has never been any contact between SDF and Kubota in this regard. “We are determined to pursue our strategy for growth, which requires us to remain independent and continue to develop new products and expand into emerging markets through joint ventures and acquisitions” says Lodovico Bussolati, CEO of Same Deutz-Fahr.
AGCO’s 4Q profits soar
AGCO has announced its fourth-quarter income was $285.2 million, $200 million more than the year-ago period - as strong demand in a booming agricultural sector boosted sales. But the company also said that it was setting its 2012 outlook roughly in line with what analysts expected, dampening expectations for another year of surprisingly strong results.
Deere profits grow and outlook raised
Deere & Co. have announced that strong equipment sales, particularly outside the U.S, boosted its quarterly net income by 4 per cent and the company have raised its outlook for 2012. The company posted first-quarter earnings of $532.9-million (U.S.), or $1.30 per share in its fiscal first quarter. That's up from $513.7-million, or $1.20 per share, last year.
Tracmaster expands into workshop equipment
Groundcare and machinery specialist, Tracmaster has expanded its range into workshop equipment as the new UK distributor for Spanish agricultural manufacturer RIBAS Agrimecanica. The RIBAS range has been designed to repair a wide variety of equipment from walk-behind motor mowers to ride on mowers, rotavators and ATVs.
