Bernhard touches down in Beijing

600 trees planted at UK golf courses to offset company’s carbon footprint
More than 600 trees have been planted on golf courses all over the UK as a result of Headland Amenity’s initiative designed to offset the company's carbon footprint. Following a prize draw, (the brain-child of Headland’s Operations Director Mark De Ath,) which took place during Harrogate Week, nine Course Managers won 70 odd whips each, which were delivered in February and are now in the ground.

Sales surge boosts AGCO
Agco Corp has announced that its earnings more than doubled in its most recent quarter, as surging commodity prices gave farmers worldwide the cash to invest in new tractors and combines. The company has also raised its full-year profit forecast, which sent its shares up as much as 18.5 percent.

International Ransomes award for Desert Turf Care
Desert Turf Care of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, is the Ransomes Jacobsen Distributor of the Year for 2007. Not only did they win the Ipswich-based turf equipment manufacturer’s most prestigious accolade, they were also winners of the International Distributor of the Year award.

Dealer Dinner to once again support Wooden Spoon
The 2008 Garden Machinery Dealer Dinner which takes place during Glee, will once again support the extraordinary work carried out by Wooden Spoon, a charity supporting mentally, physically and socially disadvantaged children and young people, who are celebrating their 25th anniversary during 2008. The dinner will take place on Sunday 21st September at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel, close to the NEC, and this year is sponsored by Briggs & Stratton, Countax, Hayter and Stihl.

BSH open new facilities
British Seed Houses’ staff gathered recently to mark the completion of development work at the company’s site at Witham St Hughs. Located on the Nottinghamshire / Lincolnshire border, the company has operated out of the site for more than 30 years and purchased it outright in 2001. The decision was taken to expand the facilities to accommodate BSH’s growing amenity seeds business.

Hitachi UK launch Outdoor Power range
Hitachi Power Tools UK has announced the introduction of its Outdoor Power Equipment range. The expansion into the outdoor equipment product area is due to the recent acquisition of the Tanaka Kogyo Co, a Japanese petrol products company.

Gary King named Chairman of OPE
Gary King of Bosch Lawn and Garden has been nominated Chairman of the OPE Council of the Agricultural Engineers Association and chaired his first meeting at the end of July. OPEC is the Outdoor Power Equipment Council of the AEA and comprises representatives from the major Companies in the sector.
