2010 DEALER OF THE YEAR AWARDS
The 2010 Dealer of the Year Awards, organised by Service Dealer, and sponsored by insurance specialists, Lucas Fettes & Partners and AXA Insurance plc, took place at an Awards ceremony and dinner held at Savill Court Hotel, Windsor, on September 7th 2009. The winning companies are firstly nominated by manufacturers and suppliers and the final shortlist then assessed by an independent panel. Service Dealer Editor, Chris Biddle and representatives from Lucas Fettes and AXA presented the awards. The winners were:
Farm Machinery Dealer of the Year
Thurlow Nunn Standen Ltd, Littleport near Ely

Thurlow Nunn Standen Ltd, based at Littleport near Ely has been named 2010 Farm Machinery Dealer of the Year. In selecting Thurlow Nunn Standen as overall winner, the panel said “The company is a highly professional operation with excellent management and total commitment to after-sales support”.
The award was presented to Sally Tew, a fifth generation member of the Thurlow family by Phil Worthington, Business Development director of Lucas Fettes & Partners.
Thurlow Nunn Standen operate four agricultural machinery branches at Littleport, Ely; Kennett, Newmarket; Hinderclay near Diss and Melton, Suffolk as well as a network of motor dealerships across East Anglia. The Group as a whole employs around 500 people and has a turnover in excess of £100 million.
The other finalists in the category were, Lloyd Ltd, Dumfries and Farol Ltd, Midhurst.
Garden Machinery Dealer of the Year

Garden Machines Northampton Ltd has been named 2010 Garden Machinery Dealer of the Year.
In selecting Garden Machines Northampton as overall winner, the panel said “A professionally operated business which continues to evolve through creative marketing and commitment to the brands it supplies”
The award was presented to Steve Gammon and Craig Hoare by Phil Worthington, Business Development director of Lucas Fettes & Partners.
Garden Machines Northampton operates from two sites in Northampton including a newly extended retail showroom on the Kingsthorpe Road and has been one of the UK’s leading garden machinery specialists for over 30 years.
Professional Turfcare Machinery Dealer of the Year
Major R Owen Ltd, Penrhyndeudraeth

Major R Owen Ltd of Penrhyndeudraeth has been named 2010 Professional Turfcare Dealer of the Year.
In selecting Major R Owen as overall winner, the panel said “Excellent premises with totally committed management – the company provides superb back-up to customers across a largely rural area”
The award was presented to Andy Jones and Monty Davies by Phil Worthington, Business Development director of Lucas Fettes & Partners.
Now in its 33rd year of trading, Major R Owen operates from impressive premises on a two-acre site on Parc Road, Penrhyndeudraeth and provide sales and service for a number of leading brands including Kubota, Hayter, Toro, Honda, Husqvarna, Stihl and Sanli.
ATV / Quad Dealer of the Year
Sharnford Tractors, Lutterworth

Sharnford Tractors of Lutterworth has been named 2010 ATV/Quad Dealer of the Year.
In selecting Sharnford Tractors as overall winner, the panel said “Sharnford Tractors provide an excellent customer experience from purchase through to professional after-sales support”
The award was presented to managing director Jamie Ismay by Phil Worthington, Business Development director of Lucas Fettes & Partners.
Sharnford Tractors operate from extensive and comprehensive premises off-road at Lodge Farm, Frolesworth where they also sell a range of leading farm machinery brands.
The other finalists in the category were Wadsworths Quads, Huddersfield and Rutherfords, Earlston, Berwickshire.
